This is a special design combining two very ancient symbols.

The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail. It is also known as the world snake or world serpent.

Jormungandr or the Midgard Serpent is the world snake in Viking mythology. He surrounds the Earth and grasps his own tail. When Jormungandr someday releases his tail, it signals the start of Ragnarok, the Twilight of the Gods.

An equilateral cross surrounded by a circle is called the sun cross or solar cross. The design is very old. It is found in prehistoric cultures, particularly during the Neolithic to Bronze Age periods of European prehistory. Some say it represents the wheel of the chariot of the sun god. Others believe the spokes represent the four seasons.

Strangely, this symbol is now used to represent the Earth rather than the Sun.

I make two sizes of this design. This is the smaller pendant. It is about an inch in diameter. I made this one in bronze but I also make both sizes in sterling silver. I make them using the lost wax casting process. All my pendants come with an adjustable black silky cord.
